Did you know that BMW started manufacturing cars because Germany lost World War 1? The Treaty of Versailles or Versailles Armistice Treaty was the most important of the peace treaties that brought World War I to an end. The Treaty ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
So how did the Treaty of Versailles affect the luxury car manufacturer BMW?
Well, BMW was not always the luxury car manufacturer we all know of. They started off as an aircraft manufacturing company. But as per the Treaty of Versailles,
Germany was forbidden to manufacture or import aircraft or related material for a period of six months following the signing of the treaty.
This forced BMW to innovate and move into bikes and consequently into cars as well. Ride with us on the journey of BMW towards success.
